The Art of Aria Nadii
What appeals to me most is the creation of evocative works, wherein representational elements (if included) are only incidental to the overall feel. I am constantly evolving my process through changes in size, materials, and themes. Lately I've been experimenting with combining fabrics and papers, and using dry methods such as embroidery to fasten and unify the various elements.

Artist's Statement
I have always been fascinated by the patina of age on objects and paper. It is a reminder of the beauty and power of nature and that she always reclaims. This reverence for the forces of time and nature is at the root of my visual work, combined with my own practices of layering, recycling, and recontextualizing. These small works are constructed of painted images and glazes, printed and composted papers, embroidered fabrics, fine ink drawings and recycled fragments of previous works which have been cut up and incorporated into new compositions. It is an alchemical process, transforming discarded remnants, disintegrating book pages, obsolete images, and organic debris. Read more...
